This side dish is an American standard and goes great with grilled steak.
It is a very simple recipe that needs just a few ingredients, a couple of potatoes, onions, a dash of salt and pepper, a little vegetable oil, and parsley and oregano if you wish to add a little color.
Making these right comes down to a little technique and this is what I found that works for us.
Ingredients
3 or 4 potatoes
1 onion
a little vegetable oil
a dash of salt and pepper
a dash of parsley and oregano.
Cut the potatoes in half lengthwise, and then quarter. Then cut thin slices crosswise. Slice the onion in the same manner.
Preheat a vegetable oil in a sauce pan. I put it on high heat to get the oil good and hot then add the potatoes and onion. I let them cook for a bit, browning them and stirring them just a bit. It should not take them long to brown. Then turn down the heat, add the rest of the ingredients, and let them cook through on low heat. This should take just a few minutes.
Serve with grilled steak. Did I mention these go great with steak?
